As someone who does warranty repair work (although not in the RV industry), I fell sorry for perfectionists that live in an imperfect world. I got pretty disgusted a few years ago when neurotic customers were obsessing over minor details (at that time, my daughter was having serious medical issues, and their little problems seemed a bit trivial).
I am far from a perfectionist. Everybody who I have shown the trailer to seems to be less optimistic about the mistakes than I am (including my dad who is currently fighting cancer). The specific flaws pointed out in my video seem to reflect carelessness more than anything. Everything should be installed with a level and a tape measure. That is just standard practice when building something.
Your expectations are too high in the RV world. I'm guessing this is the 1st new RV you've bought or you would've caught those things and looked elsewhere. All those things in the video including the slit and ceiling tear are not uncommon. If you think you have problems go over to the http://www.irv2.com/forums/ Read about all the guys buying Bay Hill 5'ers and the issues they're having. Just because it's common doesn't make it right but it's the way it is in the RV world. Dealers as far as I know don't get reimbursed for realigning drawer fronts or else they wood fix them. Unfortunately there are many more buyers like you that don't fully inspect the unit before purchase and that's what a lot of dealers and manufactures are banking on. It's been working for years like that so no reason to change.
FWIW I own a Northwood product and after a slight water leak in the 1st week, it's preformed flawless. Sure I had to replace the kitchen and bath faucets, but thats not Northwood. Do I have crooked cabinet stuff. Yes. In fact one of my window valances was out of level. I spent a whopping 10 mins re-leveling it. A dealers not going to do those things. Did I see that on PDI? No but I surely wasn't disappointed. I've owned 2 TT's and now our current 5'er. The 1st TT was a low end Ion built by McKenzie which was a sub if Monaco. Our 2nd TT was a Heartland Northtrail. Our 3rd unit is a Fox Mountain built by Northwood. Every one of those units had flaws.
Shame on NW and the dealer for letting this unit get sold with the slits. JMHO but I'm betting the slits were caused by the dealer. Even so his reputation as well as NW is on the line and something should've been done prior to sale. But both parties won as it sold. NW reputation won't be tarnished as it's a well built reputation. No different than GM, Toyota, Ford, etc with all the recalls. One lemon won't bring down NW.
Welcome to the fun and disappointing world of RVing. Now you get to enjoy the rapid depreciation on an RV. Isn't this fun:)
