Hello Mr. Cob
I researched HDT's a while back and I have given it lots of consideration. Do you have a toad vehicle? How do you like driving around in the HDT once you arrive at your destination.
Many claim it's no big deal, but I can't imagine there are absolutely no issues.
What's your bob tail experience been like.
I am a motorcycle nut, I do a lot of off road rallies and dual sport type motorcycling so I usually carry a couple of sidecar rigs or one sidecar rig and a couple of bikes in the toy hauler. When I reach my destination I use one of the bikes to do my traveling around. I don't carry a toad on the deck of the HDT, but I do from time to time just load a couple of bikes on the deck or one sidecar rig on the deck, I use the sleeper on the truck as my camper.
I find it easier to hitch and un-hitch the trailer from the HDT by myself then it was to do the same with the pick up, why I don't know it just is. The only real problem with driving the HDT around is finding a place to park it, that and the fuel mileage, bob tailing it gets around 12-13mpg. The only bad experience I had bob tailing was when I drove the truck home for the first time, heavy rain, wet roads, 470 horse power and 1,600 foot pounds of torque on a very lightly loaded rear axle with large dual tires makes for some slippery driving when those tires break loose going around a tight corner.
