I have a 2007 Pete. Its a very nice truck to drive when I need it but for trailers up to 30,000 lbs I prefer to use my one ton. I find the pick up quieter and more relaxing. For an rv I like having the pick up to run around with once the rv is unhooked.
You tow up to 30,000# trailers with your 1 ton SRW truck? WOW, I AM impressed...I'd be over my trucks GCWR if I hooked up to a 30,000# trailer and GCWR on my truck is 37,500#...with a GVWR of 14,000#, I'd be over that also....For 30,000# trailers, believe I'd go the route of the OP and definitely use a HDT
To the OP, great looking combo.....
I realize you would use a much larger truck for a 30,000 lb trailer and I can certainly understand why. I don't give much regard to the weight ratings .... I try it and if it handles the weight I don't worry much about it. I likely stay within my tire ratings which is what the Alberta law is concerned about.
