For myself the cost was close to a wash ,truck was about 10,000 less then a 1 ton duelly.
the big saving is going to be the next 1 ton I don't have to buy and the one after that. Sales tax alone here is going to run 7-8 K .However if something major goes wrong with engine or trans and they need replacement I'll have to sell the house :-).
There are a lot of intangibles and they can't be 'costed'
-wife sleeping secured behind a net in a proper bunk instead of slouched in a seat.
-I can see for miles and miles
-2500 km range and can buy fuel in cheapest state/country
-driver comfort I can drive 50% more and still be less fatigued
many more I can't remember them all.
