Mr. Cobb...I only read the first and last couple of pages so if you have already responded to what I'm about to post I digress. Given the date of your purchase and the about date Daimhler/Chrysler acquired Detroit Diesel as well as your claim of superior fuel miles I can only assume that you have a Detroit 60 Series for a motor. So if that's the case I wont take issue with the fuel miles claim.
As for your superior ride claim I'm having a problem with that...to qualify I had a stretched out W900 that I put about 1 1/2 million miles on, and given the wheel base was 265 inches, and not the much shorter wheel base that you have, there was never a time that I could claim the ride was superior to my F250 w/camper package, and they can deliver a rough ride.
Also you stated how quiet it is and that too would come into question. Today I can single out my Tinnitus problem as a direct result of noise being generated from driving a big truck.
As for anyone contemplating using a large truck for a similar purpose do your due diligence because there are enough cons to the idea to warrant not doing it.
