We have never been to ocean lakes when school was out (except spring break) and never heard loud music or crazy people on gulf carts. They have security and don't allow motorcycles. If you don't go in the summer I see nothing wrong with it.
I would also say that south of Myrtle Beach has some of the best food. Most of the places in Murrels Inlet have very good food.
