I guess Ford gave up on trying to explain to users how a turbocharged engine produces high cylinder pressures and should have premium fuel to prevent knocking. Since folks will disregard any kind of advice and use whatever is cheap, all they can do is write a generic owners manual and provide safeguards to prevent engine damage from low octane fuel.
