Bill , I have looked into this more than once , doesn't make me an expert by any means , but this is what I have found .
GM is very secretive about their stock wheel weight ratings , the most they will say is that the wheels are rated for the tires that came stock. Doesn't do much good putting tire rated at 3750# on a wheel rated at 3200#
Aftermarket wheels sometimes have higher weight ratings but not always, be sure to check . Very few if any aftermarket wheels are hub-centric as OEM .
285's will rub on the front of both sides and the rear of the left wheel well at stock height . The front bumper can be moved out an inch by drilling a few new holes in the brackets and using some spacers on the side braces , this will eliminate the trimming . You also need to crank the T-bars about an inch . The tolerances are small and each vehicle will vary .
I think Whazoo is running 285's on Alcoa's , you might PM him .
Have no experience with 19.5
Thanks Bob...good info.
What happens when you crank the torsion bar 1"?
I have heard this elsewhere...does this effect handling?
How do you know about the rubbing...did you try 285's?
Have air bags now...so I can raise the rear for clearance.
