On My F350 I'm running Toyo Opencounty HTs in the 285/75R16 size. Had the Revos in 265s prior to that. The 285s steer better and have less sway than the 265s. I had the revos on in mud and snow and IMHO they just plain sucked. The Toyos have been better except for the one blow out. I am switching to Hub Centric Steel Ricksons ( Visions are not Hub Centric and are made in China) and Toyos in the 19.5 for the rears as I was too close to the tire rating. Fronts have 2500 pounds to spare so they stay. There is a comparable 19.5 in height width and tire tread using the 19.5 245 ( we had both tires next to each other and verified the measurements at Les Schwab).
I am more about function than looks so if the rotations per mile match and I get the load margin I want 9800 vs 7500 giving me 2600-2700 to spare then I am happy plus the wheels and tires are not cheap.
Yeah it's not instant satisfaction waiting 4-6 months for the Rickson Wheels to show up vs a week for the Visions but I will not need spacer, lifts or body mods to make it work. The 285/75R16s on an 8" rim have been great.
Hi buzz..yeah I saw your blowout thread...scary. You sure knew how the handle it...good for you...
If the 285 have been great...why upgrade now?
Did you need to lift your truck to fit the 285?
OEM wheels?
Any other mods; sway bars, RAS, etc?
