When I tow it will use some oil - otherwise it does not. Go by the dip stick between changes. When I change the oil - 10 quarts and a filter. I use Rotella T synthetic. Little over 23,000 miles on my 2011 Chevy D/A.
Was the same for my 2004 and 2005 D/A.
2005 Chevy Silverado 3500 LT CCLB LLY SRW 4X4
2004 GMC Sierra 2500HD SE ECLB LB7 4X4
Also have a Fumoto drain valve on the pan - not as messy when draining the oil.
Engine - Rotella T synthetic (went to synthetic at 8000 miles)
Tranny - TranSynd. (Changed to TranSynd after the first tow).
Front and rear Diffs. - Mobil 1 75X90 synthetic (changed fluid after the first 600 miles of towing)
Was the same for my 2004 and 2005 D/A.
