Another GM recall :S

I was thinking this one was a little frivolous until I saw that there have been several fires reported because of it.
I agree. With all the recalls, aren't you glad we are driving a Dodge?
I know Dodges have had recalls, but nothing compared to this. - BenKExplorerOnce an OEM outs itself on this type of thing...they are then subject to huge
lawsuits down the road if they do NOT continue to notify the public of issues
This will bleed over to all OEM badges...VERY soon
Am positive partly to blame on these designers overly dependent on their CAD systems
We coined them 'Green light/Red Light' designers
Also, design teams are so large that they, many times, do NOT know the other
teams....nor work with them. And if they do work with them, not well often enough
Reading these threads confirms to me that many are blindly loyal to
'their' badge...AND it make no difference which badge either...they
all are subject to recalls - Ron3rdExplorer IIIAnybody bother to read the recall?
"The Problem: The owner's manual for the recalled vehicles does not specify a maximum amperage rating for the auxiliary battery feed to a trailer harness. An electrical overload of the auxiliary battery feed may cause the underhood fusible link to melt and damage nearby wiring. GM is aware of six fires and 10 incidents of melting, all handled through warranty coverage.
The Fix: Dealers will inspect the affected vehicles, make the maximum amperage information available and replace any damaged parts for free." - Cummins12V98Explorer III

Well I am glad I drive a "RAM" but they all have problems. It's how they deal with them that counts!
I just received a recall for replacing the "left tie rod ball stud". If this were to break it could cause death.
I am happy they are stepping up and taking care of the problem! - Dog_FolksExplorer

Excuse me. It's just that I was driving trucks BEFORE "Ram" was even thought of. Even though there are no Dodge badges on my "Ram" it will always be a Dodge in my feeble mind.
It is a Dodge product, sold by Dodge dealers, serviced by Dodge technicians, owned by Fiat.
Call it whatever you want. - skipncharExplorerOnce you get that far behind on your "bills" it takes some real effort to catch up. GM failed to correct defects for over 10 years so the "recall a day" will probably continue for some time yet. I read somewhere that GM plans on not announcing future recalls but putting a sign on the building where they can simply update the number daily (like United Way does) :)
- _40FanExplorerI haven't been on here for a while, so I am sure this has probably been brought up, but where were these recalls when they were Government Motors?
- tatestExplorer III thought fusible links are supposed to melt, to prevent wiring fires.
- ib516Explorer IIGM is doing recalls for every little thing. I think it's an over reaction to the ignition switch debacle, almost like before they were trying to hide faults and now the pendulum has swung the other way.
- GoPackGoExplorerI guess I'm one of those people that thinks recalls are a good thing. If I had one of these trucks I'd be happy they were being recalled and fixed so I didn't get a surprise 5-6 years down the road (and after the warranty runs out).
