Since we boondock we have no choice. We fill the fresh before we leave home and dump the waste tanks when we return. There is no dump stations or fresh water available in between.
The other reason is years ago we took our first trailer out and took no water. The pumps at the campground were red tagged and the water had to be boiled. Even after boiling and filtering the water our dog wouldn't touch it. Luckily a nice lady gave us a gallon of water for the dog and saved us from coming home. We have carried our own water since.
x2 for us as well. And yes, twice I have been glad to arrive with a full fresh tank due to no water at the site even though normally it should be.
And, it's "priceless" to arrive at a CG, pull in, unhook, relax and not need to hook up for water for a day or so till I get the urge.
And in a few places, even though the water is "potable", that doesn't mean it's water you really want to use or drink! Our home water is at least soft and almost chlorine free. (yes, we do drink from the fresh water tank, hasn't hurt us yet!)
BTW we've traveled over 15K miles with our trailer in the last 3 years with either full fresh, or full black/grey tanks. No issues.
