If Brake Controller is adjusted properly for each unique trailer, then using its manual slider doesn't need to be consistently used. Strength adjustment can be made via its boost setting.
If wondering, each of my 4 trailers use different "setting" on my Inertia technology brake controller. And for my utility trailer, I use an empty trailer setting and a different loaded setting as well. For example, P4 for empty trailer and P7 (slightly stronger) for its 3,000 lbs load. Setting is changed via simple thumb dial. For P2/P3 Brake Controller, it uses a different method setting method.
For your setup, do investigate your Brake Controller's load or boost setting. If set properly for unique trailer or driving conditions (like for more steep hills), simply set the boost value. Then, continue to use 2 hands on the steering wheel (where they belong).
