On The Road Again! We've put the fire behind us.

On August 29th this year, we had a complete loss of our tow vehicle, FW and personal possessions. We've worked through the insurance claims and we finally hit the road last weekend for our shake down cruise in our brand new TV, TT and even have a boat now.

Before:
2013 Ford F350 Diesel SRW 4x4
2014 Grand Design Reflection 337RLS FW



After:
2016 Ford F350 Diesel SRW 4x4
2017 Grand Design Reflection 297RSTS TT
2017 Alumacraft fishing boat and 9.9 HP Mercury motor
4 Boys Manufacturing automatic electric boat hoist

    I don't post much here but I remember seeing you post about the fire. So sorry for your loss. Congrats on the new rig. It's nice to see someone who can appreciate the benefits of a TT. A lot of folks sort of get "blinders" on when it comes to fifth wheels, and diesel trucks, and DP for that matter.

    Nice looking set up.

    Jim, Missed the post about your fire, very glad you and wife and dog are ok and got truck and trailer replaced.

    I did go with three five pound dry chem extinguishers. Two in the trailer and one in the truck.

    As for recommendations. Make up a grab bag with important papers, credit cards, electronics (such as cell phone chargers) and medications. If you ever have to ditch the rig in a heart beat, grab the bag and you'll be much better off than we were. Just imagine your entire rig and it's contents gone before you can react.     To OP...After re-reading the thread that you posted about the time of your fire...You're probably being very cautious about fires.

    Any recommendations for the rest of us...

    Still going with three 5 pounders for fire extinguishers?

    4 boys manufacturing also sells an attachment that will allow you to hoist your motor using the same winch that hoists the boat.

    My boat is also a 14' Alumacraft (V14-20) at about 300#. Here's a picture from my first time I put the boat on the top of the truck.

    We're also interested in the thread on the original details if there is one. SO glad you've moved on. Congratulations on the new rig, it looks wonderful. Thanks for any info on details.
