One of the many reasons I R.V.

This is one of the reasons I travel in a R.V. of some kind. I may trade to a different kind of trailer or vehicle but I just can't go back to hotels. Oh by the way when we did, we usually stayed at the higher end hotels, still the stories I could tell as I know you could too http://www.foxnews.com/travel/2017/04/06/looking-for-clean-hotel-dont-just-trust-ratings.html

  • Twice when we were FT we had to stay at motels (2 overnight stays/twice) while 5th wheel was in shop for repairs

Pulled bed spared off and threw it in corner
Pulled sheets off/pillow cases off and turned sheets over/pillow cases inside out

Sleep in light weight clothes and only took socks off for showers which were twice a day!!

Felt NASTY the whole time.....and both motels were Bib Name.
EVERYTHING got WASHED or thrown away before getting RV back

And neither of us is a Germanophobe.
  • ^^^^^^^^^^^^^

    are you sure.

we feel like hotels are not clean, so we keep 2 thin sleeping bags in the TT just incase we need to stay at one.

My budy and our 2 sons took a 9 day motorcycle trip down the BRP in the summer of last year, we stayed in a chain motel and I swear it looked like there was .......well.......lots of DNA on the wall by the bed, it was very hard to stay there.

then we stayed in a tiny little 6 room place...Tuggles gap hotel, in Virginia right on the BRP, it looked very sketchy but I felt a lot better staying there than the sperm bank place.
  • While preparing to check out of a motel room, I checked under the bed for any of our stuff and pulled out a pair of hand cuffs.....wonderful. :E
  • I don't like Hotels that much. I am not afraid of the germs though. The bed bugs are what scare me. Imagine how awful it would be to get them in your RV.

That being said I do use them once and awhile. The girlfriends daughter is getting married on June. I don't have to come to the wedding (Thank God) but, they want me to go along and be a designated driver. Great, I would love to do it ! But, my girlfriend rented a hotel room for us and she is babysitting some of the kids. When I suggested to my girlfriend that I could bring my camper she got a little , um,,, testy.

So now I'm stuck in hotel room full of little kids that I don't know.

I wonder if the will let me sleep in the lobby.

Great story. I found French fries under a motel bed once.

I hate the stuffy air - some places you can't open the windows. So you are stuck with loud, rattling floor unit air conditioner/heaters that dry out the air.

Recently rented a villa in the Caribbean and there were cats everywhere in the yard, walking across the deck by the sliding door, leaving footprints on the rental car, etc. I mean a LOT of cats. Plus three ferocious outdoor dogs in the yard next door reacting to any movement. Also major construction next door that began very early in the morning.

Once we were in Melbourne, Fla. for a funeral, and a kids' basketball tournament took over the city. Elevator with an inch of water on the floor. Big party in the lobby breakfast area. Teenagers running through the halls and pounding on our door during the night. Fun. We checked out after the funeral and were given a full refund for the first night.

    Love my RV.
  • This is surprising to me. I have stayed literally hundreds of times, not only for work but for pleasure, in hotels and motels that ranged from the Peninsula in Hong Kong and Ritz Carlton's All over the world to Motel 6 here in the states including some of the better ones like LaQuinta and I have NEVER had such an experience.

But having owned a hotel I can tell you that if you enter your room and feel it's not clean you should go immediately to the desk tell them and request another and tell them to make sure it's clean.

Just accepting it is completely foolish in my opinion.
  • I guess I have not encountered that many deplorable motels, that said I just prefer my own RV for many reasons.

I don't sleep well in a strange bed/ environment no matter how nice it is. I don't care for restaurants for every meal. My RV feels like home to me.
  • What about that missing person ?
Ever think about how many bodies are found in motel rooms ?

A strange odor caused a renter to complain to the front desk. Upon investigating it, the manager lifted the platform under the mattress to find a decomposing human body.
From time to time,we all read about this happening but people do not think about how something like effects the person finding it .
Been there too many times as a first responder. Needless to say, that's what i think about every time i drive past a motel.
My Rv's are my saving grace.
  • I find bodies all the time. Yup! It's a problem. BWAHAHA Travelled for a living and stayed in some Rat's nest the worst. Dallas TX Ramada Love Field was a Whorehouse and I got there at 130 AM and didn't want to change motels. It was filthy and in the morning prostitutes were everywhere.
