OnStar Question

Just purchased a 2019 Chevy 2500HD and a 3 mo. free subsciption to OnStar came with it. For you that continue to use it, how well do you like the navigation system? We will try and use it some, but no long distance traveling until next year. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Rich
  • When I had my Chevy I had OnStar and liked it.
Kind of like your own "personal assistant".
Call them for all kinds of stuff, not just navigation.
If we were in a new area, would ask for restaurants in 10 mile radius.
    No problem.
    Liked it.

New Ram with UConnect, worthless compared to OnStar.
  • My son uses his all the time with his 2018 2500 GMC.

OnStar came with the wifes 1500 chevy truck but for me is useless. I'm hearing impaired and a womans soft voice, like on star, I can't understand what she is telling me even at a roar. If I hads normal hearing I would use it.
  • I do not pay for the navigation. I do pay for the safe package. With four daughters driving, I think this "insurance" is worth it.

I also use the Safe Driving score for monitoring.

I also use the app on my phone for unlocking, starting, etc.
  • I no longer use Onstar. I do have the optional navigation system that my truck came with. I wouldn't pay 2 cents for this option again. Very unreliable. Costs as much for an update as a new GPS with free updates. Waste of money.
    B.O.
  • On*Star navigation is OK if you don't want to use your smart-phone.
The problem I have with it is that it will NOT recalculate if you "Have left your designated route", eg if you missed a turn or similar.
