LSD's do not work just a little bit in corners, they either engage or they do nothing and let the spider gears do their part. More friction results from those than anything else but that is minimal as well and will not lead to overheating.
Sports cars of all types use friction based LSD's and they are designed to whip around corners at speed for hours on end and their LSD's do not heat up because of it.
Because there is so much bad info flying here, I suggest the OP call a local diff rebuilder for better info.
