Not happening, but playing with the calculator and vaguely remembered numbers of our system, the increase in amps using the simple step down of 14.6 of my optimum operating voltage could yield 2+ amps-wow. Never looked at it like that. Hmm, have a nice MorningStar pwm so unless it dumps...Does also explain the higher voltage wants.
From the get-go & long term output, though still more expense- sorta justifies the extra cost. Wonder at what point-or in average available solar input as far as voltage output, that mppt/pwm becomes mute. Measuring ours on a dark/cloudy day lucky to see 14+v from panel, would mppt become liability if expected voltage is low? Interesting...
