Most of our 36cell panels 17-20vdc are 4 strings of 9 All in series... Never see what this guy is talking about... 3 strings?
If we were to split our 4 strings in 1/2 our voltage would be too low.... eh? 1/2 of 17 vdc is 8.5 vdc. The only bypass diode we need is for the whole panel when we have multiple panels in parallel... So if one panel gets shaded the other can provide 17 vdc.
