At the price point the Titan is sure to come in at, why not just go aheadand get a true 3/4 or 1ton with the diesel and have the real deal?
Sorry, but I just don't see the benefits of a 1/2 ton with a diesel for towing. Think about it. The gas 1/2 tons will pull (properly equipped of course) up to the 9k, maybe even the 10k weight mark. Anything more than that and the 1/2 ton platform becomes unstable and over loaded IMHO. Then consider the added weight of the diesel engine on it's payload ability vs. a gasser. This is where the 3/4 and 1 tons come in.
Maybe for someone who travels a lot and puts tons of miles on one the diesel may reap some benefits in longevity and fuel economy. But towing, I just can't see it.
Solely my opinion and nothing else. With time it's possible it could change!
