I have a 2006 Honda Pilot with the tow package. It performed really well towing my boat and a Chalet trailer (hard sided folding trailer). Each weighed about 2000 lbs. However, when we moved up to a 3500 lb. trailer with a 400 lb. hitch weight, we felt we were pushing the Pilot to its limits. The rear suspension needed beefing up with Timbrens. The Andersen WDH also helped. With these additions, the Pilot was adequate on flat and rolling terrain. In the mountains, though, it was 2nd gear at 4500 to 5000 rpm to keep up with traffic on two lane roads. Engine braking wasn't that good, and the brakes were marginal on long descents.
Solved all of these towing issues by buying a 2013 Ford Expedition with the HD tow package. In terms of towing, night and day difference from the Pilot.
