We put a lot of miles in the mountains with a roughly 3500 lb Pop up and our 2010 pilot did great. We had the tow package with the 4500 lb tow rating. We'd even get 16-17 mpg towing and had no trouble keeping up with traffic.

The lower profile of a pop up is a huge advantage compared to a travel trailer. I would not try pulling a higher profile trailer with a pilot.
