Lance built their 1685 designed for a Honda Pilot according to their brochures..
We have a 2006 Toyota 4 Runner rated at 5,000 lbs, the dry weight on the trailer is 3850+ lbs and we're guesstimating 5,000 lbs loaded.
We've towed over 10,000 miles from Illinois down the east coast to south Florida, then this spring from south Florida to the 4 Corners/Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado & Utah/region returning through Denver to central Illinois.
Our 1685 is at the dealer to install solar for another cross country trip (with the same old 4 Runner) next summer.
I have a post on my blog on our experiences towing with the 4 Runner. But bottom line is - would a heavier TV be better? Of course. Will our 4 Runner tow the 1685 in a cross wind or whatever across country? Yes, but we take more care than we might if we had a sturdier TV. Making decisions to avoid mountain passes that are forecast for blizzards the next day, staying "in port" when it's forecast for a 30-40 mph cross wind, etc. Overall, I think we held for weather two days in a two month out west trip.
Your mileage may vary. Lance also makes a 1575 which is smaller and lighter than our 1685, but we think our trailer is perfect for us and extended living/camping a couple - three months at a time.
We have a WDH & sway bars, factory tow package including transmission cooler on the truck, etc. - details on the blog page:
