Apparently not.
The GVWRs are reduced as well so that lighter weight components can be used. For example, I understand that now the HD Payload option uses a 6 lug 4050# axle, not the 7 lug 4800# axle.
So HD Payload option still gives you increased payload, but depending upon how the weight savings are distributed between front and rear axles, it may be that the rear GAWR is now more of a limiting factor with HD Payload. We'll see.
