("FLINT, MI – Production for the General Motors’ redesigned 2014 Chevy Silverado Light-Duty line began in Mexico earlier this week, but a date for the start of the Flint-produced heavy-duty line not expected to be until january 2014.
General Motors’ best-selling U.S. vehicle began production in Silao, Mexico, and production is slated to begin in Fort Wayne, Ind after the plant is retool is complete which is not expected to be until early in 2014. Once the Fort Wayne, Ind plant retool is complete, production for 2014 Chevy Silverado light-duty line will shift to the Fort Wayne plant for U.S. and Canada builds. Then the Silao, Mexico plant will build for Mexico, Central America, and South America sales.
"Flint will produce heavy duties only, but production won’t start until 2014," said Tom Wickham, a spokesman for General Motors.)
DUH! Perry-boy, This was posted in a thread before and on 2 other forums and not by me. There's a big difference! GM's Mexico Silverado light-duty production is temporary until the Fort Wayne plant is ready. However, the Fiat owned Dodge Ram HD trucks and the Hemi engine Mexican plants are permanent and more engines are now being shifted to Mexico with the newly completed huge engine plant. Look it up!
ALL Dodge Ram HD trucks (2500 & 3500) are made in Mexico only and imported into the USA and Canada and have been for many years and are slated to be in the future. So are ALL Hemi engines that go into these Dodge Ram trucks and other Fiat owned Chrysler/Dodge vehicles.
