Outside door dilema

No definitely not the case. Door does not come near the water heater access. I think I will get the hardware and use either option.

Our 1st TT didn't have the gas assist door holder. Our 2nd one did and for us anyway it was great. At 1st I thought it would be a hassle. But it's really nice to have the door open on it's own. Just pull the door handle to open, let go and the door opens automatically. Ours had the same type gas struck found everywhere from canopy doors to your lift up beds. We used it for 2 yrs and not a problem. We just purchased a new 5th wheel and it is the old style that you have to latch to the side of the unit. FWIW our hot water heater was behind the door so I'm pretty sure that's the reason for the door only opening 90 deg.

Thanks for the opinions...looks like the T type is the way to go and a bumper to save the side of the trailer. The limiting arm is not adjustable but does a good job of keeping the door open at 90 degrees.

I had the ball type, and it blew closed a few times. The "T" holder looks much more secure.

If not, can you buy one that has larger angle of opening. I don't have one and specifically avoided it due to only opening 90 degrees. But, I do like the idea.

Mine has the T type, which holds the door fine, but I have to add a door stop on the wall as it will swing open with the wind and kids and smack the side of tt. I have not seen the other type.

You can by the hardware at any rv place. I've broken a few of the "door holder openers" by hitting them with the scrub brush. Easy to replace/install.

My door will not block anything when fully open. The awning arm is on the other side and the water heater vent is 5' away. I guess its nice not having the door slam open with wind but I will have to evaluate after first few outing to see how it pans out. I am sure camping world or somebody like that has the hardware to secure it once against the camper. So why would the manufacturer make it this way?

:) Hi, my trailer's door opens all the way and blocks the furnace, but I see no sense in having the furnace running and the door open (all the way) at the same time.

Mine is the same and I have thought of removing the piston but if the door were to go all the way back against the wall, it would block the water heater vent. Because of this, I am not going to remove it.
