Kudos to you, but many are not as considerate -apparently a LOT are not as considerate (or aware) based on the volume of cautionary posts here. - Doug33ExplorerWhen I use them, I walk around the CG to see if they can be heard in neighboring sites. Depends.
In a crowded camp ground, no they aren't.
But after an afternoon football game in the stadium, sometimes it nice to relax outside the RV and catch another game on the TV with friends.
I really like the IDEA of out side speakers. We haven't decided yet on "more holes in the hull" of the camper, mounted speakers.
An outlet to plug in wires from speakers in one of the hatches or use some wireless speakers?
If we're camping near others, near being a relative term, if we can hear generators running we are WAY too near, NO use...... enough said?
We generally "camp" traveling 50% of the time. Using our traveling hotel room to camp at truck stops, hospitals, police departments, fire halls etc.
Urban stealth camping of course: black out conditions like 1942...or rather from what I've read about those conditions :)
Once again no use for speakers.
30% use at ski area parking lots... Rock on speakers, if one can hear our music over the snow cats, snow plows, other parking lot partiers and usually a bar we'll gladly turn it down and apologize profusely.
10% visiting beautiful places, LOVE the sound of nothing... no use for speakers.
10% screwing around with buddies in the woods....MILES from our neighbor that own the land we are shooting on, riding all over the place day and night, building huge tree slag pile bonfires and generally being 45 year old punks for a few days each year. Sorry mister grizzly bear, sorry mister lynx, sorry woodsy the owl but we will only be here long enough to spay a few thousand acres of noxious weeds have some fun making too much noise to be any good for any one.... speakers yes please.

Maybe because they are trying to persuade him to a different route in the event that he's camping next to them:) - goducks10Explorer

I have factory outdoor speakers and I never use them. With all my music coming through Pandora or mobile device, the mounted outdoor speakers are just obsolete, at least for my taste. Those speakers are obnoxious and rude to camping neighbors, anyway. I would only think of using them out boondocking with NOBODY else around. Their sound carries more than people using them think. The unused mounted speakers look cool on the TT, though, if that means anything.
x2. There's virtually no bass in outside speakers. We use an XM boom box. Unlimited music styles, plus you can use a 3.5 patch cord and play music from your phone, Mp3, Ipod, etc. We can set the boombox right beside us so no one else is bothered. - Mr_BeeboExplorerFew answers given related to the OP's question. - tplifeExplorerA boom box is the bottom-feeder of all stereos and for the same money and a little DIY, you can do a lot better! A set of Polk Atrium speakers are easy to mount, of high quality, MilSpec waterproof, and proven. We have two sets, one at home, and one for "the road", running off a Optima Blue-Top house battery:
- dadmomhExplorerJust made the leap from our HTT to a Rockwood Ultra Lite 2604 and have outside speakers for the first time. Ours are mounted up high under the awning. We make it a point to be very, very aware of just how loud the speakers are. Normally, our chairs are closeby, so no problem, but the rest of the world may not enjoy our John Fogerty like we do. Can't think of anything more annoying than listening to someone blaring their speakers.....kinda like the guy in the car next to you that has the bass cranked up.....UGH!

Has anyone installed outside speakers and if so do you have a video on how to or know of where a video might be found
I have exterior factory installed speakers on our WhiteHawk. They work, but are nothing to write home about from an audio quality standpoint, and I don't use them.
I would suspect installing them aftermarket would be quite a job, especially if you want to route the speaker wiring back to your trailer's entertainment system. Think Pap Pappy's suggestion about routing wiring to an exterior compartment that would allow you to plug in speakers for use when desired might be a good plan.
