Overwhelmed Choosing a Tow Vehicle
We're hoping to hit the road full-time this November. We don't have an RV or a vehicle to tow it with yet, but we need a new car soon, so we'd like to buy the tow vehicle now. We're just overwhelmed...

I wonder if an SUV will have the interior volume for 6 people and their personal items (electronic devices, bags, coats, etc) plus 3 cat crates and a dog crate (secured in crates to prevent escape during pit stops); especially as the kids grow.
I also wonder if the reliability of diesels has been oversimplified; the motor may be more reliable/durable but the rest of the vehicle is essentially the same as the ones with gas motors. If you're not putting lots of miles (or hard miles) on the vehicle each year does it really make sense to get the more durable motor?
