We're hoping to hit the road full-time this November. We don't have an RV or a vehicle to tow it with yet, but we need a new car soon, so we'd like to buy the tow vehicle now. We're just overwhelmed...

I know that everyone has referenced the E350, don't forget about the GM 3/4 and 1 ton vans.
For what you want to spend, it could be possible to pick up a 2010 or newer Express. You would then have the 6L and 6 speed tranny plus a ton of safety features standard (traction control, stability control, abs, side curtain airbags) with Onstar available.
With a family of 7 we towed a good size bunkhouse and it did a great job.
