The P tires will work fine for a 6000 lb trailer. Especially those with the 44-51 psi rating.
Agree wit TerryAllen on the higher 50 psi stiffening up the P tires sidewall.
I think some folks my age are still stuck in the era when all passenger car tires (P) had a 32 psi max pressure. Sure they had the truck wallowing around like a drunk hog on ice when towing or carrying a load.
Moving up to 35 psi helped a bit. Next move up was to 44 psi and was a much bigger help. Now some of the P tires go to 51 psi. Those tires can weigh the same as a 50 psi C load range LT tire.
I've used LT E tires on a few 1/2 ton trucks over the years but always went back to a P or LT C tire.
