It would be interesting to see if the states that have mandatory inspections have fewer equipment caused accidents per mile driven than those that don't. Also odd that every law that passes as one for our safety also brings money into the state gov. Inspections, fees, licenses, permits, taxes, all for our own good.
It is of no use to go into it here, but I have come real close to inspection caused crashes.
Just a few samples:
cotter pin missing - car
cotter pin so tiny that it wouldn't hold nut
spindle nut more than a turn loose - car & trailer
bolts falling out of upper control arm bushings, twice - car
lug nuts just 35 ft lb
wheel studs stripped
wheel bearings, with chips from turning, failed - car
