My main issue of contention with all this is that a) the dealer told us that the Palomino Bronco was "perfect" (their exact word) for our Tacoma, and b) that Palomino's website and advertising all continue to claim the same is true and that it's made for compact trucks like the Tacoma, Ford Ranger, etc. That is a flat-out lie, and they should be held to account for making such flagrantly false and misleading claims!
If the camper weight is more than 1056#, then they shouldn't list it as such. Also, when we were talking add-ons with the dealer, they should have been aware of our load limits and cautioned us against making them if they were going to overload our vehicle so much. Once again, where is their responsibility in helping us make the right purchase for our vehicle? I figured since the advertised dry weight was only a couple hundred pounds over the FWC that we could manage it, and save ourselves thousands of $$$. Obviously, this was not the right choice, and now we're paying for it.
Finally, if we were talking only a couple hundred pounds overload once we have all our gear in the camper, I wouldn't be as concerned, but this is simply too much. And no, I can't buy a new truck, we just bought this one a few months ago.
Palomino needs to stop the false advertising and claims, and dealers need to do a better job of helping customers work through these questions and make the right choice for their situation, period.
