Second to a Class B van, a truck camper is the best way to travel if you want to get into smaller spaces. A 4x4 van is even better.
I had my 1989 Lance Squire 4000 for 17 years (bought it new) and we traveled the west in that thing from remote locations into SF, Portland, Seattle, and Victoria (in BC).
