Patched tire

Picked up a nail on our last outing. The TPMS didn't show anything and I did not notice that the tire was flat until after being home for 3 days. Slow leak, I guess. I got the tire patched and will use as a spare. I bought a new tire and rim to replace it. The other tires are 2 years old.
Just wondered if you guys would use the patched tire or do as I did. I have had plenty of plugs put in truck tires over the years with no problems, but not sure about ST tires. If it matters, I have Maxxis tires.

  • Ive patched lots of tires at work on job sites and even a few on my on work truck. Have never had one fail from simple nail hole.

I do carry plug kit and compressor when we travel but have yet to need it.
  • If patched properly there's no problem running down the highway and getting the remaining life out of the tire.
  • I never cared for plug patches but that is about all that is used these days. I will admit I have never has one fail on my truck.

I did use an inside patched tire as a TT spare also, but it never saw road service. In the ideal world I would have replaced it, but in the real world I ended up buying new TT tires before it was ever needed. It was replaced by the best of the old tires.
