Perhaps that explains why the Chevy dealer in Avondale, AZ wanted my finance info when I was paying for a previous truck with a Cashier's Check. They didn't say, "Patriot Act" but it sure pissed me off anyway that they wanted all this info, which I refused to give them. When I bought my current truck I didn't go back there. Chandler Chevy took real good care of me and I can recommend them.
I wouldn't be so quick to judge. The dealership may have needed your information - mainly your SSN to fill out the IRS form 8300.
