I do it on the road just the same as at home. I use a Verizon Hotspot, which to my laptop looks just like another wireless network. Boot up, connect, go about my business. Campground or local wi-fi only for surfing about Hollywood gossip.
I'm just the opposite of the poster a few back. Everything online, no brick/mortar bank, everything with debit/credit cards, almost zero cash. I keep close tabs on my accounts, but the only time I've had a problem it was Chase that found fraudulent charges on a credit card, froze it, called me, and sent me another by FedEx.
Life's too short to spend it worrying about the "what-if's", as long as I have a plan in case they bite me.
**Oh, and again just to show how we are all different: I think PayPal is just about the worst way to transact online business. Long history of hackers there. Not for me!
