Permanently remove tent ends?

Hello,
Has anyone ever removed the tent end(s) of a hybrid TT with the intention of leaving it off? I am looking at buying a used TT but it has a tent end that I don't want or need. The rest of the TT is exactly what I'm looking for, and the price is right. I thought that if it's easy enough and seals well without the bunk and tent in there, I'd rather leave it off to save cargo weight and to eliminate leak possibilities, as well as to make a closet in area where the entry to the tent would normally be. Has anyone done this or have any advice? I'd like to know if it's possible before I buy the TT. Thanks for your help!

yep, one design I liked in a small TT was a side door that went to a bunk area where the lower bunk swung up and you could put bikes, etc. in that storage area.
not too different from a rear door. that was another reason I liked the Travato so you could swing the bed up and slide 4x8 sheets, canoes, lumber, etc. in.

Thanks for your replies! I think I may have an alternative to the hybrid model trailer, so maybe I won't have to deal with it. But it's nice to know I could.
Wise decision. Although almost anything is possible, the hassle involved may not be worth it when alternatives are available. ;)

I think having a large "door" available might be handy for loading canoes, bikes, etc.

  • Sure. Probley take about an hour to remove canvas. Then make sure door seals are good and close it back up. I suggest keeping the canvas for resale.
  • sure why not? I remember one Lance TC that had an optional fold out bed in the rear wall .

  • I never heard of anyone who did it, but everything is possible when you put your mind to it.
