I am sure you did not, but Reese really derates their hitch extensions. Something like 70% reduction for an eight inch extension. Gets down to under 300 pounds rather quickly.

You're confusing Hitch extensions that extend the actual receiver vs. longer drawbars that use the factory receiver. Hitch extensions do have a derating factor for them whereas most drawbars do not except for those with multiple holes in them like the Reese.
What I and most others here are talking about using are longer Drawbars and NOT HITCH EXTENSIONS.
