With my 42" extension off the receiver, the trailer does turn quicker with input to the steering. It makes backing harder since the trailer reacts more, but it does help make right turns and tracks closer to the track made by the truck. In tight spots or narrow lanes, I have more vehicle tail swing and need to compensate for the vehicle rear and the trailer front. However, I learned with a little 4x8 trailer that had 8" wheels, so towing anything else is easy in comparison.
Doesn't extending the tongue length on the trailer reduce the hitch weight if the load hasn't moved relative to the axle?
