Picking up a used TT with equalizer (not mine) what to know?

Using a WD hitch and sway control are totally dependant on the TT and TV. I am towing a 2700 lb TT with an F150 Ecoboost. The truck has a towing limit of 11,300 pounds and just got done with a 7,000 mile trip without any sway or low hitch problems, even with some strong winds.
I had one gentleman at a campground get on my case because he said that I was driving an unsafe rig. When I showed him my setup up close, he appoligized.
