- gmc6000ExplorerFor those of you with the Ram trucks that have the projector housing, convert them to HID lights. Light output is literally 3 times better.
The factory HIR bulbs put out 1100 lumens of light. The HID lights put out about 3500 lumens.
I was very disappointed with the factory lights on both my 13 and my new 17 Ram until I added this kit.

Just install one (ONLY one!) 12 VDC aircraft landing light low on the right side, and you will be able to see WAY down the road.
I did that many years ago, but I put two of them on the font bumper of a '76 Dodge. The electrical load was too much for the system, and it did a great deal of damage. That's why I now say only ONE!
I did that on my old 340 Duster back in the mid 1970's. Got them installed. Turned them on, the ammeter almost bent the needle slamming all the way to the right. Turned them off and uninstalled them. The lamps rattled around in my trunk for a long time. - mowermechExplorerJust install one (ONLY one!) 12 VDC aircraft landing light low on the right side, and you will be able to see WAY down the road.

- dodge_guyExplorer IIThe best headlights I have ever had were on our 2007 Town and Country minivan! I`ve always thought the lights on my X were marginal. I still want to mount a set of quality LED`s for night time driving.
- GordonThreeExplorerHow does this happen? The SUV that they build on the same chassis's have killer headlights, enough to set your hair on fire when they pull up behind while you're driving a sedan... Or cause welders blindness if you get hit by high beams on a dark road.
- ktmrfsExplorer IIour 04.5 2500 duramax had great headlights, especially when wired to have all 4 on with high beam.
2015.5 gmc denali was pretty bad when I got it, I complained and it turns out they had a TSB that changed tbe bulb type and wiring and made them much better but not as good as the 04.5.
my 97 Mercedes SL500 with the U.S. code headlights were terrible. switched to the european code headlight assemblies and bulbs and made a major improvement. Amazing how much better they are. - MFLNomad IIBack in 1981, I purchased a new Mercury Lynx car. I kept it for 7,000 miles. It was a pos, but had the best/brightest headlights of any vehicle I've ever owned.
Jerry - Bionic_ManExplorerAgree about the problems with the RAM headlights. I am not a fan of them either.
For as much as these trucks cost, I would think a good Xenon or similar upgrade would be available. - agesilausExplorer III

Our GMC headlights are no where as good as those on our Subaru.
Maybe if those headlights were moved another two feet up off the road, like they are in trucks they wouldn't be as good. But maybe they would still be excellent.
