Planning to tow 7500 pounds with Ram 6.4...ok??

Hell I pull 10000 with my 5.7 Ram and have no problems maintaining 70 on all but the steepest hills.

I've pulled 12K with my 2000 GM C2500 with a 255HP 5.7! If I can do that.....a 6.4 with what, 50% more hp, more torque........

Then my son pulled my truck a week or so ago sunday 60 miles when I lost the fuel pump on a car hauler. Total 7500 lbs. He has 1500 with 3.42 gears and a 290hp or so 4.8L V8!

Your worried about this because Y?!?!?!?!?!?

I guess I should apologize for the confusion. I should have noted that I have a 2500 with a 6.4 hemi. The 1500 only comes with a 5.7. Sorry

No 6.4 in 1500.

I've dragged close to 12,000 and right at GCWR with mine before moving to 3500.

6.4 will have no issue with 7500.

Ram 1500 with a 6.4, maybe Fiat is trying to muscle in on the other guys with 6+ liter in a small truck?

Figure the all-up trailer weight will be 8500-9000lbs. You will still be just fine.

Load the truck up (people, fuel, hitch and junk) and head for the nearest CAT scale. Get separate axle weights. Subtract the scale weight for the rear axle from the GVWRR (rear rating) on the door sticker; that will be what you have left for "payload" or pin weight. Then calculate 20 - 23% of the GVWR (gross weight rating - NOT dry weight) for the fifth wheel. That will be your estimated loaded pin weight. You might be surprised how close you might be with a 1/2 ton truck.

I guess I am missing something in the OP --- I do NOT see anywhere that he said it was a ½t nor do I think the 6.4L is available in a ½t.

We just completed a cross country trip pulling a 12,000 pound Big Country with our 2015 Ram 2500, 6.4 and 4 x 4. The 6.4 is an absolute beast. We had no problem crossing mountains, and the average mpg for the trip was 7.5. Not the power of a diesel, but enough power for us. This is a big, beautiful country and I urge everyone to see as much of it as possible. It is even more enjoyable in an RV.
