Not if it is diesel. See my previous post about it foaming. It is easy to be off by several gallons of a full tank.
Yes I read what you wrote, but that should be a given for a diesel owner so it is kind of a moot point since he is not actually filling up his tank. I am talking about when you actually fill your tank which slowly filling and pumping again after it clicks should be done every time. That is unless 4x4Ford is ignorant to this and I am giving him too much credit.
From all the people I see just filling to the first click at gas stations.... Many are ignorant to this fact. It is likely that some of them will read this thread and learn something new.
It doesn't help that gas stations are littered with signs warning everyone NOT to top off their tanks.
Anyone that knows anything about modern cars knows you should not overfill the tank! That is don't keep filling even after the pump clicks off. Fuel cam and will go back I to the EVAP system and mess up the charcoal canister and sensors! I know this for a fact. Yes you may be lucky and have had no issues, but there are far more that end up with problems! Think about expansion if there were no room for it!!
X2 on the damage!
Here in NJ no self serve. I got a "fill up" and the attendant kept clicking it to squeeze in the amount to round out the dollar amount.
About 60 seconds after I started the truck... CEL.
Cost me about $150 for the new part installed.
