My 2009 Kodiak 160SVT has an unloaded vehicle weight of 2456 and a GVWR of 3750. The net cargo capacity is 1294. These are the numbers off the spec sheet.
this generally is more commonly called a "dry" weight and is for a stripped-down version of the trailer. it's common for this "dry" number to not include the weights of things like: awning, oven, microwave, a/c, spare tire to name a few.
only the sticker weight will show its actual weight when it left the factory, including the weights of the items listed above.
if i remember correctly, back in 2009, Kodiak put the factory UVW sticker on the outside of the trailer, near the door. other companies had a white weight sticker on an inside cabinet door.
My trailer has the option package which includes the awning, etc. I haven't noticed a sticker on the trailer itself, but I haven't looked.
Where do I figure the weight of the propane, weight distribution hitch, and water in my tanks?
propane will weigh approx. 20lbs. per tank. the WDH weight will require weighing it yourself or contacting the manufacturer for the weight. BUT its weight goes to the tow vehicle's payload/hitch weight amounts, NOT to the trailer's.
water weighs about 8.33lbs. per gallon. you go from there.
the propane weight and water weight comes out of the CCC number of 1294.
Does is matter whether I haul cargo in the trailer or in my tow vehicle? We generally split it 50/50 and make sure the rig is level before we set out.
no matter where you put the cargo, its weight will lower either the trailer's CCC or the tow vehicle's payload amount.
Any help will be sincerely appreciated.
