Please help! Is this buyer of my trailer trying to scam me?

This is a SCAM. Daughter had someone try this on her. She was trying to sell our old stove on Craig's List or something and they were from Ohio and sent her a cashier's check for $400 we only wanted $100 for the stove. They kept texting her asking if she cashed the check yet(texted every day). Contacted the bank where the check came from and they said it was a SCAM and to take it to the police along with the text messages for the police report.
