But yeah, I definitely won't be depositing this without more information from him. "Mr. Frost" and some old shipping company whose info I can't find anywhere does not give me enough confidence.
There's ZERO point in going to your bank or trying to get more information from this scam artist, because that's exactly what it is, is a SCAM.
Even posting more questions here is a waste of time, because it's a blatant scam.
The scam artists prey on sellers of large ticket items, and it's always the same game - they demand you email them directly, rather than relying on emailing through the Craigslist Email Relay system, or they will only text you. They refuse to actually speak on the phone.
They always say they are sending a overage in the cashier's check, and that you are to keep the extra.
They ALWAYS claim they have the own shipping arrangements.
The email / text messages are broken english, or have very bizarre grammar, which is a dead giveaway that it's not a legitimate buyer.
Doing anything other than throwing the fake check in the garbage is a waste of time.
I'm kind of shocked how a lot of people that have posted in this thread said it "might" be a scam, or it "sounds" like a scam.
IT'S A SCAM, plain and simple.
