pleated day-night shades

Our blinds strings are all starting to break. Where is the best place to get replacements and how do I figure out the color they are since it was a used trailer, would the vin# tell me something?

Thanks :h

  • It is very easy to re-string. Go to any Hancock Fabric store or other fabric store and purchase some cording or string. Then follow this link on my Dropbox site for instructions and a diagram on how to do it.

I have done about three or four of them in our trailer and found it easy after the first one.

  • Hubby is going to try the fishing line first as he needs some any way, yah. :)
  • Forget the string. Get 80-pound test braided fishing line from a sporting store. For $10 you'll have enough for dozens of shades. Download the restringing instructions and replace all the strings. After you do one it is easy.
  • Actually, take a sample to a fabric store and buy the string in the closest size they have. I buy about 50 yards at a time. Soak in cold tea, yea sounds dumb, but the color is nearly perfect, for about 30 minutes. Rinse and dry. There are instructions all over the internet on how to. Or you can buy one of the really expensive restring kits that come with instructions. Your choice. They are not hard to do. The hardest part is getting the tension right.
  • My guess if you will get the best deal for RV blinds from Amazon on the internet.
