Bingo! A plug when done correctly with a quality plug, mushrooms out on the inside of the tire and is designed to seal the hole from the inside also. It can't "shoot out like a bullet." That's only if you use a good plug made from good material with good adhesive. A cheap or improperly installed plug will leak over time.
