In spite of Mother Nature throwing her worst at us at the worst possible time, from your "wants" as stated above, I'd go with the nicer pop-up.
Why? If you take care of it, in a couple to three years from now it will still have good resale value. In a couple or three years from now, your financial situation should improve (that's just naturally happens in life). In a couple or three years from now you'll be in a better position and can consider a new(er) nice(er) hard trailer then.
FYI, we tent camped and pop-up camped until our last kid graduated high school, left home, and joined the Navy. When that happened, ... somehow magically and mysteriously ... we had extra money! It's funny how that worked out. We decided it was then time to get the hard sided trailer and we did.
Our daughter (Navy girl) teased us to death about how we just waited for her to get out of the house and gone before we got a trailer and how she was forced to live in a tent all those years. We just laughed at her and told her tough luck!
But you know, we had a lot of fun with that pop-up for 6 years. Yea, breaking camp in the rain was never a chore I enjoyed, but it sure did make some interesting memories! And looking back, those are memories I hope I never loose to Alzheimer's some day!
