A few days ago in Charleston, SC, an elderly lady of african descent approached me, a light skinned man, for help in the parking lot of a convenience store. All she wanted was a bic lighter.
I gladly bought her one to the astonishment of the other ( all black ) patrons and employees with a Merry Christmas wish for her.
The spirit of helping one in need, regardless of that need cleared a cloud of distrust in this racially divided city.
I then gave the lady a ride to her home.
Workcampers such as the lady the OP had concern with are rare. Workcampeers are not always of the well to do retired type who wish to fill their days with a sense of value. Often they are well meaning, financially challenged folks who love travel.
I venture OPs concern was to her view valid. No camp would willingly employ persons of questionable background when there is such a large pool of qualified applicants.
